HB 2048 modifies the Oregon Paint Product Stewardship law passed in 2009 (HB 3037). The bill makes the pilot program permanent, and make changes to improve the program for the benefit of consumers buying paint, the paint industry, Oregon’s environment, and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

NAHMMA is in support of legislation establishing paint stewardship systems and believes that paint stewardship legislation, and subsequent rulemaking, must incorporate the principles outlined in this policy statement.
