HB 1376 concerning paint stewardship, backed by the American Coatings Association, would create a paint recycling program for Washington's residents and businesses. HB 1376 passed the House Environment Committee on Feb. 14 and Appropriations Feb. 22 but did not move to a floor vote prior to the cut-off date and is dead this session but will likely be taken up again in 2018, the second year of the biennium.

The following local governments, businesses, and organizations have supported policies and legislation that would establish convenient, safe, and environmentally sound paint stewardship programs in Washington State:

HB 1652concerning paint stewardship, signed into law by Governor Inslee on May 9, 2019, creates an industry-funded and run paint recycling program for Washington's residents and businesses and is expected to be in place by Nov. 30, 2020 (the law's effective date is July 28, 2019).
