Oregon Paint Stewardship

HB 2048, modifying the 2009 Oregon Paint Stewardship Law, passed the House on June 27, the Senate on July 1, and signed into law by the Governor on July 29.

Washington Paint Stewardship

Paint Stewardship Bills, creating a stewardship program for architectural paint, were introduced in the Washington State Legislature on January 29, 2013, but died when they did not move out of committee before the March 1 deadline.

Our Activities

NWPSC Paint Subcommittee members has been involved in national dialogues with the paint manufacturers, retailers, the recycling and waste management industry and other government agencies since 2003. The Subcommittee has worked on pilot projects to take back paint from residents, drafted reports and fact sheets and is now providing input on policy language proposed by the American Coatings Association to require paint manufacturers to finance and provide a paint take back program in Washington State.
