Call2Recycle, the nonprofit battery stewardship organization which has operated battery recycling programs in Canada and the U.S. for over twenty years, announced a new all-battery recycling program in 2017 and new fees: "to ensure the long-term viability of our voluntary battery stewardship program, the current rechargeable battery recycling service will transition to a fee-based service model for select customers, effective April 1, 2017... The new, fee-based solution allows Call2Recycle to become your one-stop-shop for recycling both rechargeable and single-use batteries." This presumably affects businesses and municipalities which collect batteries.
