Washington’s bill contains all the elements of a successful EPR program and will serve as a foundation for other states to consider EPR for batteries. Washington’s future EPR program will include a broad range of both single-use and rechargeable batteries – starting with portable batteries and from 2029 medium-format batteries up to 25 pounds.
