HB 2056 was signed into law and went into effect in July, 2007. The bill requires beverage vendors at official gatherings and events, in areas for which residential and commercial recycling is already available, to provide recycling for single-serving plastic, glass and aluminum containers. The Washington State Department of Ecology has produced a Focus Sheet on Recycling at Washington Events (PDF file, 175KB) that answers questions about the law and how to set up a recycling program at a local event.
